The Choristers of Upper Dublin, based at Upper Dublin Lutheran Church in Ambler, PA, is
an ecumenical choir formed in 1978 by several alumna of Ursinus College who missed the
fellowship they had enjoyed in the choral program at the college. The mission of the
choir is:
- To promote the education and love of music through the preparation and performance to the community of challenging choral works; and
- To maintain a high standard of musicianship within an atmosphere of education, growth, diversity, and inspiration; and
- To provide the common thread of humanity which the arts can create as we come together to rehearse, perform, hear, learn about and experience the music.
Works the choir has performed include Frostiana by Thompson, selections from Duke
Ellington's Sacred Concerts, Coronation Anthems #1 & #4,
Chandos Anthem #11: Let God Arise,
The Utrecht Jubilate: Psalm 100 and Messiah by Handel, Vesperae solennes de Confessore by
Mozart, Rachmaninov's Night Vigil, Duruflé's Quatre Motets Sur Des Themes Gregoriens, Gloria by Bach,
Vivaldi & Rutter, Requiem by Brahms, Fauré, Mozart, Rutter & Verdi, Antonín Dvorák's
Stabat Mater, Elijah by Mendelssohn, Bach's Cantata 191: Gloria in Excelsis and
Passion According To Saint Matthew & Passion According To Saint John, Magnificat & Te Deum
by Haydn and Rutter, Missa Solemnis and the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven and Masses by
Brubeck, Dvorák, Haydn, Mozart, Palestrina and Vaughan Williams.
Rehearsals are on Friday evenings from 7:30 to 10:00 PM and are held at Upper Dublin
Lutheran Church, Susquehanna Ave & Butler Pk., Ambler, PA.
